I decided to challenge myself and sign up to do the Marathon Des Sables. It was a six day self supported marathon in the Sahara desert. Cambridge Consultants sponsored me for this event and the charity donations I raised were for Hope for Children. The funds raised were doubled by CC at the end and this made it clear to me how much of a people centred place CC is to work at.
The interdisciplinary work that is done at Cambridge Consultants enabled me to get my foot in the door with multiple project teams when starting as a graduate. I have been involved in a wide range of projects since my return to CC. From modelling a bioreactor to setting up new 3D printers or designing mechanical rigs, my potential as an engineer unlocks more each day.
University for me is a proactive way for filling in my gaps of knowledge, and working has provided me with the skills to put my learning into practice. CC provides you with a good opportunity to explore different sectors of the business which is perfect for someone who doesn’t know what they want to get into. I have been able to figure out what I want to do here and have been supported throughout the process.
By doing a gap year in industry it allowed me to discover what I liked, but also find out what I didn’t enjoy about engineering in general. As a tech scholar I was able to get involved with a variety of projects and this allowed me to learn how to use my initiative to my advantage in a work setting.
A UX Designer is responsible for designing and improving the overall experience of a product or service for its users. My day to day could range from conducting user research, creating user personas, designing wireframes and prototypes, or conducting user testing.
When making a career move during the pandemic, I wondered whether it would be a risky decision during a time of such uncertainty. This fear was almost instantly swept away when I started working at Cambridge Consultants. My time at CC is flying by and having been a part of the consulting team for almost three years now, it’s been great to work with some fantastic consumer brands and companies.
