McCormick, a global leader in food spices, seasoning and flavours, wanted a tool to support their business with a key client and to position themselves as a thought leader. We helped them develop a technology roadmap describing the route forward in terms of technology development, product evolution and market goals.
An interview programme was conducted with key internal and external stakeholders to determine the draft roadmap architecture and pre-populate the roadmap with information.
Cambridge Consultants then facilitated a one-day workshop with representation from McCormick technical and commercial functions and key external stakeholders. In the workshop, the strategic landscape was built through brainstorming around market drivers, product evolution and technology developments.
Key topics identified in the strategic landscape activity were then explored in more depth in breakout groups to create detailed, topic-based roadmaps.
At the conclusion of the project, McCormick and Cambridge Consultants had created an overall technology roadmap and set of individual topic roadmaps showing the potential of Healthy Eating technology options for investigation and development. These roadmaps were presented to and endorsed by their key client, solidifying their position as a cutting-edge strategic collaborator.
The roadmaps served to outline the alignment of commercial and technical strategy and led to increased collaboration between McCormick’s European and American divisions.
